Zoloft
Description
Sertraline HCL is used to treat depression, obsessive-compulsive
disorder(OCD), panic disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD),
and premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD; a severe form of premenstrual
syndrome).
How to Use Zoloft
Take this medication by mouth usually once daily with or without
food; or as directed by your doctor. It is recommended that you
take your dosage at the same time each day, either in the morning
or in the evening.The dosage is based on your medical condition
and response to therapy. It is important to continue taking this
medication as prescribed even if you feel well. Do not stop taking
this medication without consulting your doctor.
Zoloft Side Effects
Some common side effects reported with Sertraline medicine are Nausea,
dry mouth, increased sweating, drowsiness, diarrhea, upset stomach,
or trouble sleeping may occur. If any of these effects persist or
worsen, notify your doctor or pharmacist promptly.
Zoloft Interaction
This drug should also not be used with the following medications
because very serious interactions may occur: pimozide, weight loss
drugs (e.g., sibutramine, phentermine), tryptophan, terfenadine,
astemizole, dihydroergotamine. If you are currently using any of
these medications, tell your doctor or pharmacist before starting
sertraline.
Zoloft Overdose
In case of overdose call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222.
If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing call local emergency
services at 911.
Zoloft Notes
Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical
tests should be performed periodically to monitor your progress
or check for side effects. Consult your doctor for more details.
Zoloft Missed Dose
IIf you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near
the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your
usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

restore the balance of certain natural chemicals in the brain.

This medication has also been used to treat a type of decreased
sexual ability (premature ejaculation) in men.Consult your doctor
for more details about its other uses.
Zoloft Storage
Store at room temperature at 25 degrees C away from light and moisture.Do
not store in the bathroom. Keep all medicines away from children
and pets.Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer
needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your
medication.
Zoloft Precaution
This drug may make you drowsy; use caution engaging in activities
requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Avoid alcoholic
beverages. Though uncommon, depression can lead to thoughts or attempts
of suicide.This medication should be used only when clearly needed
during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor.If
this medication is used during the last 3 months of pregnancy, infrequently
your newborn may develop symptoms including feeding or breathing
difficulties, seizures, muscle stiffness, jitteriness, or constant
crying. However, do not stop taking this medication unless your
doctor directs you to do so. Report any such symptoms to your doctor
promptly. This drug passes into breast milk. Because of the potential
risk to the infant, breast-feeding while using this drug is not
recommended. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. |
