Paxil Description
Paxil is an antidepressant in a group of drugs called selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRI). It works by restoring the balance of serotonin,a natural substance in the brain, which helps to improve certain mood problems.
How to Use Paxil
Take this medicine as directed. It can be taken with or without food. It may up to 4 weeks to reach full effect, but you may see symptoms of depression improving in one to two weeks. Do not stop taking this medicine abruptly without consulting with your doctor.
Paxil Side Effects
Get emergency medical help if you have any of these signs of an allergic reaction: skin rash or hives; difficulty breathing; swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat. Contact your doctor promptly if you have any of the following side effects, especially if they are new symptoms or if they get worse: mood changes, anxiety, panic attacks, trouble sleeping, irritability, agitation, aggressiveness, severe restlessness, mania (mental and/or physical hyperactivity), thoughts of suicide or hurting yourself.
Paxil Interaction
Certain medications taken with this product could result in serious, even fatal, drug interactions.Some of the drugs that can interact with paroxetine include ibuprofen, lithium, and aspirin.
Paxil Overdose
In case of overdose call your local poison control center at 1-800-222-1222. If the victim has collapsed or is not breathing call local emergency
services at 911.
Paxil Notes
Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests should be performed periodically to monitor your progress or check for side effects.Consult your doctor for more details.
Paxil Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up.

Paxil Storage
Keep this medication in the container it came in, tightly closed, and out of the reach of children. Store it at room temperature and away from excess heat and moisture (not in the bathroom). Throw away any medication that is outdated or no longer needed. Talk to your pharmacist about the proper disposal of your medication.
Paxil Precaution
Paxil should not be used for people with an allergy or hypersensitivity to this drug or any SSRI.Paxil does not usually cause sedation, but patients should not drive or operate heavy machinery until it is known that Paxil does not affect the ability to safely engage in these activities.The safety and effectiveness of Paxil in children under 18 years old have not been established.Paxil is not addictive. Suddenly discontinuing Paxil may lead to withdrawal symptoms such as confusion, dizziness, sweating, or tremors. Dosage should be gradually tapered when Paxil is discontinued. One study showed no adverse effects due toPaxil during pregnancy, but further study is required and pregnant women are not advised to take Paxil. Paxil passes into human breast milk, and nursing mothers should not take Paxil. |
