Remeron Description
Remeron(Mirtazapine) is a tetracyclic antidepressant used to treat depression.Remeron(Mirtazapine) is used to relieve symptoms of depression such as feelings of sadness, worthlessness, or guilt; loss of interest in daily activities; changes in appetite; tiredness; sleeping too much; insomnia; and thoughts of death or suicide.

How to Use Remeron
The usual starting dose for Remeron is 15 mg once daily, usually at bedtime. Doses may be increased every 1-2 weeks up to a maximum dose of 45 mg daily. It may be taken with or without food.The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to therapy. It may take up to two weeks before the full benefit of this drug takes effect. Therefore, do not increase your dose or take it more frequently than prescribed. Consult your doctor.

Remeron Side Effects
Approximately half of the patients who take mirtazapine develop sleepiness. For this reason, it usually is taken at bedtime. About 1 in 14 persons develop dizziness, and 1 in 6 develop an increase in appetite. Some persons experience weight gain, sometimes requiring discontinuation of treatment. Mirtazapine may increase blood levels of cholesterol and triglycerides. One in four persons develops a dry mouth.

Remeron Interaction
Remeron adds to the sedating effects of alcohol and other drugs that can cause sedation such as the benzodiazepine class of anti-anxiety drugs (e.g., Valium, Ativan, Klonopin, Xanax), the narcotic class of pain medications and its derivatives (e.g., Percocet, Vicodin, Dilaudid, Codeine, Darvon), the tricyclic class of antidepressants (e.g., Elavil, Tofranil, Norpramin), certain antihypertensive medications (e.g., Catapres, Inderal), and some antihistamines (e.g., Benadryl; Atarax; Vistaril).

Remeron Overdose
If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. US residents can call the US national poison hotline at 1-800-222-1222.Symptoms of overdose may include severe dizziness, unusual sweating, persistent nausea/vomiting, severe drowsiness,or fast heartbeat.

Do not share this medication with others. Laboratory and/or medical tests may be performed to monitor your progress. Consult your doctor for more details.

Remeron Missed Dose
If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you remember. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and resume your usual dosing schedule. Do not double the dose to catch up. .

Remeron Uses
Remeron is an antidepressant (selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor or SSRI) used in the treatment of depression in adults.

Remeron Storage
Store at room temperature between 59 and 86 degrees F (15 to 30 degrees C) away from light and moisture.

Remeron Precaution
Tell your doctor your medical history, especially of: kidney problems, liver problems, other mental/mood conditions (e.g., bipolar disorder), seizures, heart disease, strokes, high cholesterol, any allergies. This drug may make you dizzy or drowsy; use caution engaging in activities requiring alertness such as driving or using machinery. Limit alcoholic beverages. To minimize dizziness and lightheadedness, get up slowly when rising from a seated or lying position. Though uncommon, depression can lead to thoughts or attempts of suicide.This medication should be used only when clearly needed during pregnancy. Discuss the risks and benefits with your doctor. If this medication is used during the last 3 months of pregnancy, infrequently your newborn may develop symptoms including feeding or breathing difficulties, seizures, muscle stiffness, jitteriness, or constant crying. However, do not stop taking this medication unless your doctor directs you to do so. Report any such symptoms to your doctor promptly. It is not known whether this drug passes into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding.
