Buspar Description
Buspar is indicated for the treatment of anxiety for the reduction
of the symptoms of anxiety such as fear and tension.
Buspar works by affecting the chemicals in the brain that cause
anxiety.
Buspar Warnings
Dizziness and Drowsiness may possibly occur when taking Buspar.
When you experience drowsiness or dizziness while taking Buspar,
inform your doctor immediately so that he/she can advise you of
a proper course of action.
Tell your doctor if you have any of the following medical conditions:
- Known allergies to Buspirone
- Have recently been under MAOI medication
- Has kidney problems
- Has liver disease
- Is an alcoholic
If you have any of the mentioned medical conditions, your doctor may
lower your Buspar dosage or advise you to stop taking Buspar altogether.
Buspar is in the pregnancy category B. Buspar is not known to
be harmful to the unborn baby or to the pregnant mother. If you
are pregnant, do not take Buspar without first talking to your doctor.
The active ingredients of Buspar passes into the breast milk of
nursing mothers. Consult your doctor first before breastfeeding
if you are on Buspar medication.
Buspar is not to be administered to children below 18 years old.
Buspar Intake Guidelines
Buspar should be taken exactly as instructed by your doctor. Never
deviate from your doctor’s instructions about taking Buspar.Each
dose of Buspar must be taken along with a full glass of water.
The healing impact of Buspar may take longer for the patients
to feel it. Never cease your Buspar intake abruptly. The cessation
of taking this medicine must be under your doctor’s supervision.
Do not take Buspar if you have recently taken grapefruit or any
grapefruit juice. The combination of Buspar and grapefruit is dangerous
to the health and may lead to fatal conditions.
Buspar Side Effects
Taking Buspar may entail side effects and among these are:
- Allergies characterized by swelling, hives, closing of throat,
swelling of lips, mouth and throat.
- Angina
- Arrhythmia
- Headaches
- Lightheadedness
- Confusion
- Blurred vision
- Numbness of limbs
- Muscle twitches

Buspar Dosage
The exact dosage of Buspar can only be effectively determined by
your doctor. Never attempt to set a dosage for yourself.
Buspar Overdose
Buspar overdose is characterized by the following symptoms:
- Drowsiness
- Very deep and long sleep
- Nausea
- Vomiting
- Extreme decrease in the size of pupils
If any of the symptoms are present and overdose is suspected, immediately
seek emergency medical attention.
Buspar Missed Dose
If you happen to miss a dose of Buspar, you can take it as soon
as you remember provided that it is not yet near the time for the
next dose. However, if it is already near the time for the next
dose, just entirely skip that dose you missed and proceed with the
next scheduled dose and resume normal dosing after that.
Buspar Drug Reactions
Some drugs may not work well if taken together with Buspar. Tell
your doctor if you are taking any of the following drugs:
- MAOI
- Sporanox
- Erythromycin
- Selegiline
Alcohol and other medicines that trigger drowsiness and dizziness
should also be avoided and if not, they should be taken in moderation
to avoid aggravating the drowsing effect of these medicines. |
